About

Geeks Aloud is the ad-hoc rants, findings, bugs and thoughts of an ageing software developer who’s first computer was the ZX-81 followed by Assembly language (remember that!?) programming on the Spectrum and even the QL. Then I grew up a bit and moved to the Atari ST during the late 1980’s before getting a real job and using Apple Macs and PCs.

Because of my history, C is still probably my favourite language and C++ as it matured but I’ve also used many others. My recent coding has all been in PHP as the language of choice for running the various sites.

Nowadays my hands on programming is really restricted to a hobby with my day job being the running a Medical Imaging web portal.

I still love the challenge of coding though and the huge amount of live access to information on the web is a real help even though it is incredibly frustrating to sometimes spend hours even days on a niggling problem.. but I guess that’s why we do it.. for the brain training.

I’ve love to hear from you. Either comment on an article in the site, or email me at adam@geeksaloud.com.
